Rally at the Capitol for Real Medicaid Reform!!!

ADAPT Calls on Washington and the States to Endorse Real Medicaid Reform.  We need Medicaid reform that not only contains costs, but also protects the civil rights of seniors and people with disabilities.   ADAPT is working with disability, aging and civl rights groups to hold a rally in Washington DC on Capitol Hill, Wednesday September 21st. ADAPT and the other campaign organizers and supporters are urging disability, senior and civil rights organizations in every state to hold their own events this summer and immediately begin working to bring people with disabilities and older Americans to our nation’s capital in September.   We have identied proposals that contain Medicaid spending while supporting our right to live in the most integrated setting and control our lives:

Expand the use of community-based services.

Demedicalize services.

Expand Consumer directed service options.

Reorganize Medicaid services to eliminate wasteful bureaucracy.

2011 ADAPT Youth Summit

The 2011 ADAPT Youth Summit will take place on June 10-14 in Chicago, Illinois.  We are training young people with disabilities on direct action and nonviolent civil disobedience.  If you are interested in supporting this year’s event or participating in next year’s group, please email Josue at adaptyouthsummit@yahoo.com.

The ADAPT Youth Summit is now accepting applications for the 2011 Summit!  The deadline is March 1, 2011.  Selected participants will be notified by April 1.  The Summit will be held in Chicago in June 10-14, 2011

WHO CAN ATTEND???

Any young person with a disability between the ages of 18 to 30 can apply!  We are looking for youth who are excited about making real change and fighting for the rights of people with disabilities. Check out our “Apply” section at the top of this site to get the application.

HOW MUCH DOES IT CO$T

ADAPT will cover the cost of shared housing, lunches, and dinners during the summit, training materials, and ASL interpretation.  Participants will be expected to pay for their travel to and from Chicago; as well as meals that are not provided.  ADAPT believes that cost should not be a barrier for anyone and will help provide assistance to anyone who needs help fundraising these costs.
